Provider Guide

Moving lead providers, compared honestly

Who publishes their pricing, how many movers compete for each lead, and what you are actually signing up for. We include ourselves, and we cite our sources.

Where we stand

This page is published by MoveLead, so read it with that in mind. What we can promise is that every claim about another company links to that company's own page and shows the date we checked it, and that we do not describe anyone as a bad option because they compete with us.

MoveLead

Moving-specific leads, phone and SMS verified, delivered in real time by SMS, email, or into your CRM. Shared leads are $15 local and $20 long-distance and go to up to 4 movers, or $28 and $38 for a two-mover cap. Exclusive leads are $45 local and $85 long-distance and go to you alone. Live transfers are $60 local and $90 long-distance. No long-term contracts.

Thumbtack

General home-services marketplace where pros set their own lead budgets and compete for jobs across many categories, not just moving.

Pricing: Not published publicly. Source (checked 2026-07-29)

  • Very large consumer marketplace with demand well beyond moving
  • You set your own lead prices and budget rather than paying a fixed rate
  • Useful if you also sell adjacent services like packing, junk removal, or labor-only help

MoveAdvisor

  • Moving-specific rather than a general home-services marketplace
  • Caps distribution at a maximum of 3 other providers per lead

FAQ

Choosing a lead provider, answered

The questions worth asking before you spend anything.

What should I look at when choosing a moving lead provider?

Three things decide your return: how many movers receive the same lead, whether the price is published before you commit, and whether you can stop without penalty. Everything else is detail.

Why do so few providers publish their lead prices?

Most route you to a sales call so pricing can be set per account. That is not automatically bad, but it does mean you cannot compare cost per lead across providers before signing up, and you should ask for written per-lead pricing before you pay anything.

Are exclusive leads always better than shared?

No. Exclusive leads cost more — $45 versus $15 locally — and only pay off if you work them properly. If your team calls within minutes, shared volume often returns more per dollar. If you quote the next day, exclusive is the better spend.
